Elton John

エルトン・ジョン：サー・エルトン・ハーキュリーズ・ジョン CBE（Sir Elton Hercules John CBE、旧名：レジナルド・ケネス・ドワイト/Reginald Kenneth Dwight、男性、1947年3月25日 ）は、イギリスミドルセックス州ピナー生まれのピアニスト、シンガーソングライター。




エルトン・ジョンの歌を初めて聴いたのは、中学生の時か高校生かは忘れたが、ラジオで流れた「Goodbye yellow brick road」である。聴きやすいし、印象に残るメロディで、歌手名は分からないまま数年過ごした(^.^)

「Your song」は、俺の好きな映画の一つ、織田裕二主演「エンジェル～僕の歌は君の歌」で使われたし、ドラマ「イグアナの娘」でも使われ、良いアクセントとなった素敵な歌、癒しの歌だね。








初期のプログレッシブ・ロック志向からカントリー・ミュージックへの傾倒、さらにはアメリカン・ロック、フィリー・ソウル、ディスコミュージックに至るまで、その音楽性は幅広い。

1969年にソロ・デビュー。1970年の「僕の歌は君の歌」のヒット以降、コンスタントに活動を続け、現在までに全世界で2億5000万枚以上のアルバム・セールスを記録、ほぼ作曲専門で、作詞は1968年のデビュー以降その多くを盟友バーニー・トーピンが手がけている。

1970年代前半に彼の人気は全盛期を迎えた。1972年の『ホンキー・シャトー』以降、アルバムセールスは7枚連続全米首位を記録し、1975年には『キャプテン・ファンタスティック』で全米ビルボードのアルバムチャート史上初の初登場1位を記録するなど、この時期に数多くの快挙を成し遂げている。

1986年にはディオンヌ・ワーウィックらとのデュエット曲「愛のハーモニー」で初のグラミー賞を受賞している。

1997年には、旧作の詞の一部を差し替え、事故死したダイアナ妃に捧げたシングル「キャンドル・イン・ザ・ウインド 1997/ユー・ルック・トゥナイト」が全世界で3700万枚以上を売り上げるシングル史上最大のヒット曲となる。

1998年には、それまでの音楽活動とチャリティー活動の実績を評価され、エリザベス女王からナイトの爵位を授与された。

ビートルズ以降、最も成功したイギリスのアーティストですよね。

最初はCrocodile rock、　で、「ピアニストを撃つな」ってアルバムを
聞きましたね。Daniel　も大好き。やさしくて哀愁がある？メロディーですよね。Goodbay Yellow　Brick　Road　がヒットしたころは人気があってその後来日したときはコンサートのチケットが抽選かなんかで買えなかったような？？（カーペンターズだったかな？？記憶が曖昧・・で、いよいよ歳がバレるな・・^^;） カラオケでのYour Song　聞いてみたいですね♪

洋楽聴き始めた頃すでに売れてたけど、"Too Low for Zero"の頃だったかな。
だから70年代の全盛期を改めてじっくり聴いたのは遅いんだよね(苦笑)。
ピアニストにしてロック系の曲も結構あったりで、曲作りの引き出しが多いアーティストですな。
だから"Pinball Wizard"とか"Saturday Night〜"は好きですねぇ。
