シン・リジィ (Thin Lizzy)
アイルランド、ダブリン出身のハードロックバンド


どこで、いつダビングしたのか忘れたが、唯一持っていたテープが78年のライブ「Live and Dangerous 」で、これしか聴いた事がなかった。シン・リジーの良さが凝縮しているライブである。
そしてこのバンドがいつまでも馴染みのあるバンドとして私に存在していた理由は、いろいろ関わったギタリストの存在であろう。ゲイリー・ムーア、スノウィ・ホワイト、ジョン・サイクス・・・。

自分の中で一番話題になったのが、ラストアルバム。ジョン・サイクスが加入して今までにないギターバトルが繰り広げられ、また違うシン・リジーをみせていくのかと思われたが、惜しまれつつ解散宣言。
勿体無いような、ドロドロになる前に区切りをつけたような・・・。ただ、ライノットは数年後に死亡、彼は後年どんな音楽をしていこうとしていたのだろうか。

アイリッシュ・ミュージックを取り入れたメロディと、ギブソン・レスポールによるツイン・リードスタイルが特徴（1974年から解散するまでの間、常にレス・ポールのツイン・リードにこだわった）。
フィル・ライノットの表現力豊かなヴォーカルとツイン・ギターのスタイルで、長年活躍していく事になる。

1969年、フィル・ライノットPhilip Parris Lynott (b&vo)を中心に、ブライアン・ダウニーBrian Downey (dr)、エリック・ベルEric Bell (g)で結成。当初は初期はアイリッシュ・フォークとロックの融合を基盤としたサウンド、次第にステージ・パフォーマンスを含め、ロック・バンドへと様変わりしていった。ベルの脱退で74年にゲイリー・ムーアが参加したがすぐに脱退、ブライアン・ロバートソンBrian Robertsonとスコット・ゴーハムWilliam Scott Gorhamが加入し、ツインギターの4人編成となる。

78年、ロバートソン脱退、再びゲイリーが参加。ロバートソンはWild Horsesを結成。
79年発表の『ブラック・ローズ』がこのバンドの最高傑作か。

80年ゲイリー脱退、スノウィー・ホワイトSnowy White 加入。しかし、バンドは徐々に迷走していく。
83年、NWOBHMブームとシン・リジーの再人気に乗って、ライノットはジョン・サイクスJohn Sykes（元TYGERS OF PAN TANG）を参加させ、ラストアルバムに取り掛かる。サイクスとスコット・ゴーハムのギターが激突する凄い作品となった「Thunder and Lightning 」である。そしてライブを行った後、バンドは解散となった。

1986年1月4日、フィル・ライノット、ヘロインの過剰摂取による内臓疾患、敗血症により死亡。享年36。

ライノットの死後も、ゲイリー、ジョン、スコットらが時折集まってシン・リジィの名前で活動中。
