TYGERS OF PAN TANG

Tygers Of Pan Tang（タイガース・オブ・パンタン）は78年にイギリスで結成されたヘヴィメタルバンド。



●このバンドについては、どう知ったんだろう。思い出そうとしても・・・忘れている（汗
たぶん、ミュージックライフかなんかの雑誌で、ジャケとコメントを見て3rdアルバムを買ったんではないか、そんな気がするのだが・・・。

●このバンドはジョン・サイクスを擁したという事で有名。（彼はその後、シン・リジーのラストアルバム＆ツアーへ参加、バンドを離れてしまうが。）ただ、俺がＬＰを買った当時は、彼の事はまだ知らなかった。もちろん友人達もこのバンドの事もジョンの事も誰も知らなかった。日本ではまだ話題にもならなかったんだが、本国ではＮＷＯＢＨＭを代表するバンドとして人気があった。

そんな日本でも、シン・リジーでのジョンのギター・テクニックに衝撃を受け、彼が在籍したこのバンドも知られるようになった・・・と思う。

ジョンの脱退で人気が落ち、もう解散していたかと思っていたら、まだ活動していたんだね。
90年以降の曲も聴いてみたいものだ。

サウンドはいかにも当時のＮＷＯＢＨＭらしい正統派ブリティッシュ・ロックという感じである。

◆ＮＷＯＢＨＭ(New Wave of British Heavy Metal) を代表するバンド・・・
当初は、Jess Cox (vocals), Robb Weir (guitar), Richard "Rocky" Laws (bass), and Brian Dick (drums)がメンバーで1980年にデビュー。２ndアルバムで John Sykesが参加、彼のギターテクが注目された。しかし、彼が抜けた穴は大きく、後任に元PENETRATIONのFred Purserが加入したが人気は下降、解散、再結成を繰り返した。現在は、オリジナルメンバーはRobb Weirのみで、活動中。
